Available Nanny Services

Part-time nannies work a maximum of 29 hours a week and commit to staying with a family for at least one year (if that is the desired length of employment from the family).

With the Part-Time Nanny Placement, families have complimentary and unlimited access to back-up, emergency, and fill-in babysitting services during the duration of the nanny's employment.

The average rate of pay for a part-time nanny is $20.00 to $30.00/hour.

To begin the process we require a $200 non-refundable application fee. If you decide to hire a nanny through Portland Nannies,  we retain a placement fee of $1600.

A Newborn Care Specialist is a compassionate and educated nanny who helps new parents with caring for their new addition and offer a wealth of knowledge and wisdom. Their primary responsibility is to provide the new parents with assistance during the postpartum period/fourth trimester and assist with all aspects of newborn care. Standard NCS duties include feedings, bottle preparation, bottle washing, diaper changing, soothing and nurturing, educating the parents on all aspects of newborn care and up-to-date safety recommendations, working with the parents to establish a regular feeding schedule, healthy sleep habits and routines. Portland Nannies has a team of wonderful nannies who have specialized Newborn Care Specialist training and possess extensive newborn experience. Parents often hire an NCS to take over complete care of their newborn at night and provide parents time to sleep. The Newborn Care Specialist will charge an hourly rate of $25-$35+/hour and typically work in 8-12 hour shifts.

Four-Twelve Week Newborn Nanny Placement Fee: $1200.

The Household Manager role is designed for the family with a busy schedule. The household manager will undertake all tasks related to the care of the children as well as the household and help everything run smoothly!  The typical pay rate range for household managers is $25-$30/hr.  The household manager's primary focus is the children, but additional duties could include:

• Household chores
• Errands
• Grocery shopping and purchasing of household supplies
• Meal preparation
• Household budgeting
• Travel planning
• Party planning
• Coordinating contractors and other service providers
• Family laundry/changing of bedding
• Toy cleaning, toy organization, toy rotation
• Planning of child creative and developmental activities
• Organizing: closets, food pantries, fridge, etc. as well as child’s clothes/closet and seasonal rotation of clothing
• Taking the family’s vehicle to the gas station, car wash, service station
• Pet care or plant care
• Being a liaison with schools, teachers, doctors, coaches, etc.

One Year Placement Fee: $1600

Temporary Nannies: Families sometimes need someone just for a week, a month, or for the summer. We offer temporary services catering to your needs. The placement fees for temporary nannies are as follows:

5 week...............................$1000
6 weeks.............................$1200
7 weeks.............................$1400
8+ weeks...........................$1600

The permanent babysitter placement is great for families who only need up to 4 hours of childcare a week, but on a consistent and regular basis.  The family and nanny go through the same placement process as the Full and Part Time placements, but at a reduced placement fee rate.  The permanent babysitter can commit to the family for one full year, and this placement comes along with all the benefits of the full or part time nanny placement.

Permanent Babysitter Placement Fee: $1400

Portland Nannies offers a babysitting list subscription which is a list of 50+/- nannies that are looking to pick up extra hours.  We list their names, contact info, where they live, and their availability.  We also include a description of each nanny that tells about his/her background and interests.

The nannies themselves have all been through the vigorous application/screening process with Portland Nannies and are current nannies with our agency.  You would call the nanny directly to try to secure them for the dates you need.  Most families that use the list are able to use one or two nannies on a regular basis.  We update the list weekly and do a major overhaul bi-monthly making sure that the nannies have availability to take on extra hours.  If you ever encounter difficulties securing a nanny with the list, you can call the office and we can help find a nanny at no additional fee.  The office is always available to help narrow down the list, make recommendations, or even find the sitter each and every time for the family.  We want to make sure that the list works for you and you find the coverage needed.

With the babysitting list comes free access to the on-call service for the full duration of the one year subscription so you have a very strong chance of finding coverage.  With the babysitting list you also have access to Portland Nannies after hours if you need assistance in finding childcare last minute.

The list costs $300 for a one year subscription and you receive four editions throughout the one year.

Portland Nannies has been providing premiere hotel babysitting since 1985! Families are frequently referred to us by numerous hotels statewide and in the Greater Portland Area. The babysitters that we place are all current nannies with our agency who possess additional availability. Although we have a pool of over one hundred babysitters, for hotel babysitting we tend to use the same dozen or so on a regular basis. These are the highly experienced, most reliable, consistently flexible babysitters that have established ongoing relationships with the hotels, concierges, families, and our agency.

All of our nannies have been through our extensive application, interview, and screening process (10 page application, interview, criminal background check, CPR certification, reference checks, employment history background checks, educational background checks, etc.) Some of the hotel sitters have been with our agency for over 20 years. We understand that using a babysitter service can be a worrying experience and we want our families to know we will personally match them with the right nanny for their child/ren so that they can enjoy their time visiting and not worrying!

Hotel Babysitting Registration Fee: $35
Each day nanny service is needed: $10/day
The nanny will charge an hourly rate of $25+/hour with a four hour minimum and you will pay them directly at the end of their shift.

We ask for parking fees to be reimbursed should they need to pay for parking.

For travel more than 1/2 hour from Portland we ask that travel time be compensated at the $25+ hourly rate.

Cancelation Policy: We have a 24 hour cancelation policy. Full payment of services is required should a family cancel with less than 24 hour notice. There will be a $20 charge for cancellation of services with more than 24 hour notice.
Restrictions: Portland Nannies hotel babysitters do not provide tub baths, medications, or trips to the swimming pool, nor are they able to drive the children.

Portland Nannies is available to make your wedding day less stressful and more special! Portland Nannies can provide on-site childcare for guests at the wedding venue as well as individual babysitting services in their homes/hotel rooms.  We understand that it can be difficult to give your attention to the wedding while also caring for your children, and our experienced nannies are here to help. Whether you are in the wedding, helping, or simply want to enjoy it without worrying, we'll make sure that the little ones are cared for!

If you are having a wedding and would like to offer childcare to your guests, we can help arrange all the details.  Our experienced and loving nannies will arrive with age appropriate toys, activities, games, books, arts and crafts, music, and movies to ensure a fun and exciting time! We suggest a child-to-nanny ratio to ensure that every child's needs are met as follows:

• Infants/Babies (up to 18 months old)     3:1
• Toddlers (1.5 to 3 years)                           4:1
• Pre-School (4 to 5 years)                           5:1
• School Aged (6 and older)                         6:1

For weddings hosting an "Adults Only" reception, we suggest having the childcare in a separate room at the venue (suite, meeting room, etc.) so we can create a Kids Room to be used for all the children, caregivers, and fun activities. Parents can come and go throughout the services, and sign them in and out according to what works best for their child's schedule.

For weddings that want to include children at the wedding & reception, we can create a Kid's Area or Kid's Table. Our professional and qualified nannies will attend the ceremony and reception and make sure that the children are happy, having fun, and are quiet during all the important moments on your wedding day. Our nannies will make sure the children are fed, entertained, and supervised throughout the duration of the wedding.

Wedding Babysitting Registration Fee: $150 nonrefundable
Each day nanny service is needed: $10/day per nanny
The nanny will charge an hourly rate of $30+/hour with a four hour minimum and you will pay them directly at the end of their shift.  For weddings over half an hour from Portland, travel pay will be requested.
Restrictions: Portland Nannies wedding babysitters do not provide tub baths, medications, or trips to the swimming pool.
